About Me
Hey there! I'm Gokul. I graduated from the National University of Singapore, School of Engineering, majoring in Industrial Systems Engineering and Management in 2021. I am currently working as an associate product manager at Affinidi (start-up backed by Temasek), where we build technology for the self-sovereign identity ecosystem. Very cool web 3.0 stuff might I add.
I am a technologist in the field of integration and automation between SaaS and DBs. I'm also passionate about product management and consulting. I'm curious about technology and how it can provide value and help solve pain points. I love to dig into customer problems and provide optimal solutions. Not to mention, I am passionate about personal development, constant learning and looking at the product-market fit of businesses & start-ups. I have interned in NYC and Singapore as a Solutions Consultant and Product Manager at high-growth startups.
I am currently looking for a full-time PM-related job opportunity. Do reach me at r.gokulll.96@gmail.com or Linkedin if you wish to connect

Product Management Intern
Zenyum, Singapore
Consumer-focused healthcare startup, founded in 2018 and funded by Sequoia Capital

Job scope:

-
Engaged in conversation rate optimization of Zenyum’s Website across various markets
-
Created and implemented an agile methodology to test and run experiments based on hypothesis and insights
Key Takeaways:
It was my first foray into a Product Management role. Being an internal tool PM was definitely challenging and had different complexities as compared to a customer-facing PM or what I learned from Product School. Having full autonomy and control over a product was empowering and taught me the ropes of being a PM alongside delivering a new product. I was also exposed to the e-commerce world and being a website PM and it gave me the opportunity to impose new systems and methodologies
Job scope:
-

Key Takeaways:
I can talk for days about my experience at Workato. When I started, there was a huge learning curve, learning about SaaS, DBs, OPSa, APIs, business processes and talking to enterprise clients/prospects. Here is where my passion for tech and product blossomed seeing how Workato was able to constantly integrate it's product-market fit and solve customers pains

GRIP Program Intern
NUS Industrial Liaison Office

Job scope:
-
Assisted ILO in the NUS Graduate Research Innovation Program (GRIP) to keep up with event, activities and workshops for graduate researchers who are building up their own start-up under the GRIP accelerator program
-
Helped facilitate a new venture creation and business validation program and be exposed to how deep-tech start-ups are formed and how their start-ups have grown and scaled since the beginning of the accelerator program
-
Managed the Q&A session when these start-ups pitched to VCs and investors during the demo day
Key Takeaways:
It was my first time being exposed to a deep-tech new venture creation process. I was given the opportunity to learn about how start-ups ideate, prototyped, patented their technology and came up with their business models. Prior to this internship, terms like “funding”, “pitching” and “prototyping” were just used freely daily, before I got to see it first hand. I was also part of their demonstration day where 20 deep-tech start-ups in the program pitched to investors and VCs for fundings ranging from 250k-1million. It was truly an eye-opening experience for me.
Job scope:
-
Designed International Standards Organization (ISO) reports for clients such that it succeeded in meeting their expectations and the standards set
-
Communicated with clients to improve on the reports provided and ensure it was beyond satisfactory
-
Proposed and incorporated various automation systems to improve operations within the start-up such as macros and shortcuts

Key Takeaways:
The 2 month internship I had at R STAR was my first time working for a small company with 4-5 people, and the team dynamics were very different. I was tasked with jobs aside from my initial job scope. Throughout the 2 months period, it dawned on me that the current processes were relatively outdated. Keeping this in mind, I introduced macros to their workflow, enhancing work effectiveness for my colleagues. I realized with automation, it was a short term pain for long term gain. It made me realize how automation helps companies develop a more efficient and effective work process, saving time and manpower which remains vital for start-ups. Through this internship, I understood that even during my 'free time' in work I can continuously try to improve and innovate beyond my tasks
May'18-Jun'19 (2months)

-

-
Awarded the RSM Coin and Best Section Coin for my outstanding performance and conduct

Key Takeaways:
It was my first proper "office" working environment, working with peers, understudies, upper studies and bosses. The role was demanding and came with a lot of responsibilities and pressure. I understood how powerful MS excel was when needed to plan, track and forecast data of 1000 soldiers. The experience instilled a strong sense of discipline within me as I had to report and manage the company of soldiers daily while also doing my administrative work. I witnessed and learnt from the management style of high-ranking officers like army Majors and Lieutenant Colonels. I understood the relevance and importance of my role to the Battalion as I had to lead by example. Given these circumstances, I had to work diligently throughout the eight months. Thankfully, my efforts were recognized by my superiors and I was awarded a coin for my excellent conduct and behavior. I was really proud of my work and impact within the battalion. It was truly a sense of achievement.
